The Basics of Firearms Handling
This course is geared towards the first time or firearms curious shooter. While it is discussed during the course, this course is NOT about marksmanship. It is about learning to handle different firearms in a safe manor, shooting "clay pigeons" (orange discs) and putting holes in paper targets. No certificates are issued but you can (if you wish) take home your targets. Please see our Policies page prior to contacting us about courses we offer.
What this course includes;
Introduction to safety on the platform of your choice. Pistol, Rifle, Carbine or Shotgun. How to load and clear a firearm. Safe handling, proper grip; stance; sight picture and sight alignment.
You will get to shoot multiple makes and models of your chosen platform. I've come to find some people pick one firearm and stick with it which is fine too!! As you progress through the range time we will discuss which firearm works for you the best. You will then be able to choose which you've enjoyed shooting the most and concentrate with that particular firearm and introduce a few fun games with different targets and let you enjoy shooting in a safe controlled manor.
All you need to bring to the range is hearing and eye protection (can be provided but I will need prior notice!) a positive attitude and the willingness to learn.
This course is a scheduled 2 hours but usually will run longer!
The rate for this block of instruction is $165 if the shooter is providing their own firearm and ammunition and can be paid at the time the beginning of the course given. If Personal Dynamics will be providing firearms and ammunition the cost of this block of instruction will be $225.00. a NON REFUNDABLE (but applied) $75 of this to be paid in advance to cover the cost of ammunition with the balance to be paid in full at the beginning of the course. Cash or PayPal accepted. Included in these costs are the targets & stands and live fire range fees. Scheduled additional time is available for a rate of $25 per hour but for a first time shooter we've come to find that 2 hours for a first session is just about perfect. While it may seem like a short time you will be given a lot of information to process and longer than 2 hours we feel becomes slightly overwhelming for some. The way the range at Fort Dix Range 14 is run is perfect for this type of class with a cycle of 20m of live fire and 10m of cease fire allowing for all of your questions and concerns to be addressed while not on the "firing line". Please fill out the contact form located on the "About Us" page and lets set up a course.

Working more on what it is needed to make the rounds go, where you want them to. We will work a lot on your stance and finding what is comfortable for you. Whether it be for target shooting, recreational shooting or defensive use we will begin to build on the knowledge you already have and create the skills needed for you to move farther into training and allowing your confidence and abilities to grow.
